Our first full day in the Arizona sun. The 20 C temperatures and lots of sunshine is exactly what we have been looking for. A leisure morning sitting in the sun while having morning coffee and tea.

It was time to switch out the batteries in our RV. The motorhome had been delivered with a very good pair of AGM batteries that we put to use last year. However, we still have our LIFEP04 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries that we had purchased for our travel trailer. They give us much better capacity. We had prepared the necessary power cables before we left home, and everything fit together perfectly. Then it was just a case of reconfiguring the solar controller and on board charger in the motorhome to support the slightly different charging characteristics of these batteries. When living off grid in the desert we will need as much capacity as possible. Boondocking is just a game of trying to see how far you can stretch things. We have the luxury of carrying 72 US gallons of water and almost 60 lbs of propane, so hopefully we can last 10 to 14 days before refills.

Baxter has had his first walk in the desert, and he found way more bushes than he could ever hope to mark in his lifetime. However, we do have to be vigilant as we saw a coyote walk past the campsite today.

A few other housekeeping items around the motorhome, and additional time sitting in the sun was the extent of our day. Relaxation is the theme.
