Our last day at Campbellton, NB, and all the laundry is done and we've had some quiet time for ourselves. It has been raining off and on for a couple of days, but today looks better, although overcast.

We decided it was time to head back to Jacquet River and to find the "gorge" we were told about. As I recall, the fellows at the service station told us to take a paved road south from town, which then turns to a gravel road before reaching the snowmobile club cabin. After that, follow the signs to the lookout. Well, lo and behold the instructions were exactly as they said, although it was a longer paved road than I expected. However, it did turn to gravel and shortly after we came to a rather large building that apparently was home to the snowmobile club. Nearby was a sign directing us to "Paul's Lookout". It was a narrow dirt/gravel trail, and I probably could have driven the road in the truck, but I decided to err on the side of caution and we walked. I figured the last thing I need it to get stuck on some back country trail, 5,0000 kilometres from home, and lose or damage our sole transportation.

It was only about 1 kilometre to "Paul's Lookout", which was a "interesting" little shack that the snowmobilers must use throughout the winter. The views from the area around the shack were spectacular, although a little hazy with all the moisture in the air. Although not raining, it was definitely damp. Baxter especially like the excursion as we decided to remove the leash and let him run on his own.

I think we were a little early in the season as not all the leaves had changed colour, but the view was still enjoyable to say the least.

After returning to Campbellton we took some time to drive around the town and immediate area. There were a number of places where the leaves were in full scale change, and other areas where they were all green.

In any event, we decided that we would end our stay in Campbellton, and the Canadian Maritimes, and head for Maine, USA tomorrow.
