It rained overnight, sometimes heavily. We felt bad for the "Sisters on the Fly" as many had arrived for their weekend campout. It was fairly cold, and we were happy that we had brought along our electric heater to assist our furnace in the trailer. I hope the "sisters" had plenty of heat and warm clothes, but one nice thing about the campground is that they have a recreation center where I assume the group will hold their meetings/events whatever that may be.

First order of business was to take Baxter to his appointment. Brenda and I both agreed that we couldn't have found a better veterinarian. Dr. Heather Goodwater was absolutely fantastic, and gave Baxter a thorough examination. She concurred that he was still probably suffering from an allergic reaction, and prescribed a round of pills to ease his discomfort. Heather was very pleasant and knowledgeable, taking as much time as we needed to discuss his situation and discuss options for anything we could do. And, to make things even better was that the office offered a "free initial consultation". They waived the $47 examination fee (that we thought was amazingly cheap) and charged us a minimal amount for Baxter's prescription. The clinic is part of a nationwide Banfield chain, and so any vet in their chain can access Baxter's records.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing, and planning our next move. There was a very strong weather system moving to the north of us that was dumping huge amounts of snow on Manitoba. Des Moines was sitting on the southern edge of the low pressure area, and the forecast was for more cold weather, rain and wind. Do we wait out the weather in Des Moines or continue our trek toward home? We decided to move on rather than sit in the rain and cold.
