Today we decided to head north along highway 95, back to Lake Havasu City. As mentioned on January 18 when we came through from Mesquite, it has been many years since we visited. It has to be about 25 years, and while we don't remember a lot, we can tell the city has grown immensely.
First order of business was to get an oil change on our car. We probably should have done that before we left home. We found a place that had good service reviews, pulled in and waited in line. There was a small delay as they scrambled to find the proper oil filter for our car, but the local auto parts sent a delivery truck over and the job was taken care of by the friendly staff.
From there we stopped at a local shop that sold large 5 gallon water bottles filled with reverse osmosis water - and they also sold ice cream. We couldn't pass that by.
The main purpose of our trip to Lake Havasu City was to visit "The World Famous London Bridge". Its kind of a bold statement - but the Americans like to think that everything they do is "World Famous" or they are "World Champions". Yes, there are still lots of bridges left in London but this one is kind of interesting. The story we were once told is that it was purchased by someone in the US, taken apart stone by stone, with each numbered, so that it could be re-assembled at its new home on Lake Havasu. We had visited the site many years ago but don't remember much about it. It is an interesting piece of work, but World Famous?? Not from our perspective, but who are we to judge.
On the way back to our campsite we took more time to enjoy the scenery along the Parker Dam reservoir and the mountains in the area.
