We left our great campsite at the Highlands Recreation Area just outside of Ann Arbor Michigan today. Our destination is the Guelph Lakes Conservation Area in Ontario. It was an uneventful trip. The US managed to extract one last toll from us as we had to cross the border over a bridge and there was a toll at the bridge. We arrived at Canadian customs and passed through with no difficulty.

After arriving at the Guelph Lakes campsite and setting up camp, we decided to head up to Clifford, Ontario to follow up on Doug and my ancestors. We manage to find the head stones of a number of our relatives who lived in the area in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Of particular interest we found a headstone where our great-grandparents are buried along with our uncle also named Hugh (the same as my father's name). Apparently my grandparents named their second child Hugh and he died just after his second birthday. My grandparents named their 7th child who was my father, also Hugh.

Overall it was a very rewarding experience to connect with the great grandparents who I obviously never knew.
