Today we left the Big Axe Brewery, and headed to St. John, NB.  It was almost a 2 hour drive and we arrived just before noon. First stop was the visitor information centre on the west side of town. They provided a map and some information about what to do and where to stay in the area.

First stop was the Irving Nature Park just south of the tourist centre. This is a park funded by Irving Oil, and is a beautiful spot to spend time enjoying the ocean scenery (actually the Bay of Fundy) and some of the local wild life.

We killed some time at the park, waiting for low tide so that we could visit the reversing falls. As the St. John River enters the Bay of Fundy, the huge tides actually force the river to flow upstream during high tide. Today we visited at low tide and watched the river flowing downstream below the bridge and observation deck built above the river. There are large whirlpools created as the river enters the water of the bay. Our plan was to return during high tide to watch the river flow backward.

After watching low tide, we headed east from St. John to St. Martins. We checked into the Century Farm Family Campground which is right next door to the St. Martins Sea Caves.
