This is supposed to be the best day of the week - weatherwise, so we decided to continue our travels in the area, checking out the numerous small towns and picturesque scenery.

We followed pretty much the same route as yesterday, but with the intent to spend more time enjoying the scenery and dodging some of the congested areas.

Shortly after we departed the campround at 9 AM, the sun peeked through and enhanced the colours in the area. We took a couple of alternate routes today, but still visited the same general areas as yesterday. That postcard perfect scenery was a little hard to find. What we did find however is that the number of colour seekers on the roads had grown by a factor of at least 3. I suspect everyone was waiting for a day with a little sunshine, and then came out in droves. We even noticed the number of tour buses had increased substantially.

We traveled the Kancamagus Highway again today, but we took a slight detour so as to avoid Conway and the traffic. We took the Bear Notch Road north from the Kancamagus and met Highway 302 just west of Bartlett. This was a beautiful but narrow road that not many people travel. I suspect most tourists never even know it is there.

We re-visited the area of the Mount Washington Hotel, and even took some time to visit the hotel and enjoy some of the scenery from the numerous vantage points in and around the hotel.

At the end of the day we ended up in Gorham, and found a little restaurant called the Road Hawg BBQ Swine Dining. They offered an extensive menus of pork based dishes, from ribs to pulled pork. Most of the meats were slow roasted on a smoker.

We were back in camp by 6 PM and had a quiet evening, as it is time to move on from the White Mountains.
